We have been getting an increased number of tickets about McAfee Pop-Ups and this is a phishing attempt to gain your personal information.  Howe ISD does not use McAfee as a virus scanner, so any interaction with this will compromise your information.

Please follow the instructions below to block these alerts from appearing on your screen:

To stop web push notifications like these from appearing, follow the steps provided below.
  You can turn off web push notifications in your web browser. Different browsers have different steps, so we've included a few below.

To stop web push notifications, click one of the following options, depending on your web browser:
 
Chrome 
  1. Open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click the 3 dots icon (), then click Settings.
  3. Under Privacy and Security, click Site Settings, then Notifications.
  4. To block all notifications, select Don't allow sites to send notifications.

     
  1. To block notifications from a specific website:
    1. Click Add next to Not allowed to send notifications.
    2. Type the website URL, prefixed with [*.]. For example, type [*.]mcafee.com to block all push notifications originating from the mcafee.com domain.

    3. Click Add. The website can no longer send push notifications through Chrome.
       
  2. If the website responsible for displaying the unwanted notifications is already in the Allow list, remove it:
    1. Click the More actions icon () to the right of the domain name that you want to remove in the Allow list.
    2. Click Remove. The website is removed from the Allow list.
Firefox
  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the stacked menu icon () at the top right.
  3. Click SettingsPrivacy & Security.
  4. Scroll down to find Permissions or type Permissions in the search bar (Find in Settings)
  5. Click Settings next to Notifications.
  6. To stop websites from making any new requests to send notifications, click the Block new requests asking to allow notifications checkbox and then Save Changes.

     
  7. To block notifications from a specific website, select that website and do one of the following:
    • Click Remove Website to remove the website completely from the list.
    • Double-click the website, and change the status from Allow to Block.
  8. Click Save Changes. The website can no longer send push notifications through Firefox.
