Good Morning,

Happy Tuesday!

Here are your tech tips for the week 🙂

Apple Classroom Tips

Navigate to Specific Content

Have you ever spent a million years trying to get your students to go to the same webpage for an assignment in class?  Apple classroom lets you force navigate to a specific website without your students having to type anything in.  Here is how to do it:
  1.  You will need to create a bookmark in Safari of the website you want your students to visit.
    1. You can do this by clicking on Safari on your teacher iPad, going to the website you want your students to visit and then clicking this symbol:
    2. Click "add bookmark."  This will allow you to name your bookmark and save it to Safari
  2.  Then you will go to Apple Classroom, click on the class you are currently with, and select "Navigate" and follow the directions below:

New Tool to Try:  Flippity

Flippity is an awesome tool that allows you to take any Google Spreadsheet and turn it into a usable template for your classroom.  You can create flashcards, gameshows, boardgames, drag and drop games, bingo, and so much more.

Here is the website:  https://www.flippity.net/

Under each activity you are going to see "Demo" and "Instructions."  When you press demo, you can "play" the activity as a student and try it out before you start changing anything.  The "Instructions" button gives you step by step instructions on how to create your own Google Spreadsheet, change content, publish it to the web and share with students.

🌟🌟🌟Important:  You will need to be logged in to your Howe ISD Google Account!  All templates force you to make a copy and those copies will live in your Drive.

Translating Documents into Spanish

Microsoft Word is a great tool to create documents for your classroom- newsletters, worksheets, templates and so much more.  Did you also know that you can translate anything you create into Spanish?

Here are the instructions on how to do that:

  1.  Create your document in Word
  2. Click on the "Review" tab at the top and then "Translate" and then "Translate Document":

  1.  A menu will pop up to the right side that will ask you how you want to translate- you will click on "From English, To Spanish."  Then click "Translate."

  1.  This will open up a brand new document in Spanish (you might have to adjust your formatting!).  Then you can save and print or publish to their LMS.
Just a note:  Google has the ability to translate into Spanish as well!  However, Google Translate is not as accurate at Microsoft Translate (just a word of caution!).

Have a great week!
