Good Morning,

Happy 1st day of school!

Here are your tech tips for the week 🙂

Meet the Tech Ambassadors 👋🤝

During the campus updates, we introduced your campus ambassador to you.  Now you get the opportunity to meet the campus ambassadors from other campuses!

  Laura Benner, Summit Hill Elementary

Hi!  My name is Laura Benner. I teach kindergarten at Summit Hill Elementary. This is my 3rd year teaching in Howe and my 18th year teaching elementary. I have a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I love honey bees!  I own and operate a honey bee farm, so my free time is very sweet😉!

Nearpod 101 🧠🤓✅

Many of you were able to attend Laura's awesome Nearpod session at Bulldog Connect and learned what a fantastic tool it is to use with your students.  If you were not able to attend, please check out her session notes below.

This presentation is your go-to guide on getting started with Nearpod.  You will learn what tools are available to you, how to create your own presentation, how to share the presentation with your students and so much more.  (This has also been added to our Helpdesk Solutions portal as well).

Here are some FAQs:

How can I share my presentation with my students?

As a teacher, any lesson you create is going to show in "My Lessons."  You will hover your mouse over the lesson you want to share with your students and see 2 options:  Live Participation and Student-Paced.  Live participation means that you and your students will go through the lesson together with you guiding the lesson the entire time.  Student-paced means that the student can complete each slide at their own pace (this is perfect for homework assignments!).  When you click on either option, it is going to then display a code for your students.  Remember that as soon as you click on "live participation" the lesson is then "active" and ready for students to join.  When you have your code displayed, you can the share/project on the board to your students to login.

How do my students login and where do they put in the code you talked about above?

When students login to Clever and click on Nearpod, they are going to see a window that asks for a code:

As soon as they enter the code, they are in the lesson and ready to go!  If you are doing a live participation, they will be locked to the first screen until you guide them to the next one.

Does Nearpod have an activity library with lessons already created?

Yes!  Nearpod has THOUSAND'S of pre-made lessons ready for you to add to your personal library.  The best part is that you are able to search by subject, grade level, topic, skill and so much more.  You can access this library by logging into your Clever account, clicking on Nearpod and then choosing the option "Nearpod Library."

Have a great week!  More tips and tricks will be shared with you throughout the year.  Please submit a helpdesk ticket if you have any questions or need any 1:1 assistance.

Thanks,
