Hello Everyone,

Hope you are having a fantastic Tuesday!

Here are your tech tips for the week 🙂

October is Digital Citizenship Awareness Month

What is Digital Citizenship?  It is focused on using responsible, respectful, and ethical behavior when using technology.

Have a conversation with your students about Digital Citizenship- you would be surprised at how many of them think that what they do online doesn't effect them.

I challenge you this week to add this activity to your daily warmups:

  1.  Watch this 1 minute video with your students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg3gSNgaBm0
  2. Print out this Digital Footprint for your students to fill out where they spend their time online.  Have them share with each other- do they go to the same places?  Are there similarities, differences? (if you have remote students, have them make a digital collage with Word or PPT of their digital footprint).
  3. Have the conversation with your students- what they do online matters, it's permanent, and the internet is not always a safe place.

  4. Remember!  If you teach older grades and assume your students know this, think again!  They are very careless with sharing WAY too many personal details online.  Same with teachers of very young students- don't assume that they have no idea what social media is, how to "talk" to friends on video games or how to create videos online!
Please be on the lookout for more digital citizenship resources in our October Newsletter on Friday!

Microsoft Word Tip

Wanting to change the font color, highlight, underline or bold a sentence in Microsoft word?  Use this super-fast trick to highlight an entire sentence in Word:

  1. Hold down the Ctrl button
  2. Click any word in the sentence
This will highlight the entire sentence without needing to triple-click!

Have a great week!
