Google Slides 📒

Google Slides is a presentation creation tool, similar to Microsoft PowerPoint.  Here are some of the reasons why I love Google Slides:
  1. Real-time editing. With Google Slides, the version of your online presentation is always the most current. You don't even have to remember to save it.
  2. Collaboration. Do you work with a team? With Google Slides, teamwork isn't a problem. Share your presentation with anyone who has Internet access, no matter what type of computer system they use.
  3. Secure sharing. Control who has access to your presentation when you share it. Depending on the level of sharing you set up, co-authors can view, comment on, or edit Google presentations.
  4. Revision history. Not only does Google Slides auto-save your professional presentation, it also keeps track of past versions. Go back to an earlier version of your presentation using the Revision History feature.
  5. Compatibility. With Google Slides, import slideshows from other presentation software tools. You can also export Google presentations to other software tool formats. (PowerPoint, PDF, Mp4, and you can even export individual slides as a JPEG)
  6. Professional features. Google Slides includes professional presentation features such the ability to format slides, change text, import images, import videos, and more.
  7. Template availability. Google Slides has a wide variety of templates available from both Google and from third-party vendors such as Slides Carnival and more!
  8. Online publishing. Google Slides lets you publish your presentation online. Use a secure link to share your presentation or embed the presentation into your website.

Try This:  Chrome Extensions 💻
Do you wish that you were able to customize the look of a webpage?  Make the font darker, easier to read, etc.?  Stylish is a Chrome extension that lets you customize any webpage!  This chrome extension is fairly new and they are updating themes daily.

Here is another Chrome Extension for you to try:  Full Page Screen Capture.  It will capture the ENTIRE page all at once!  You no longer have to scroll, snip and save.  This extension will allow to click one button to save everything on the page.

Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year?  Now is a great time to be thinking ahead and getting all your files, documents, and devices ready for pick-up.

Ed Tech Ambassador Program

Ed Tech Ambassador Program is due April 30th! Remember to submit your Ed Tech Ambassador Program application here

Howe ISD's Ed Tech Ambassador Program is a great way for you to become a technology leader on your campus.  You will get to pilot the latest devices with your class, attend groundbreaking conferences and webinars and earn a $1,000 stipend.  If you enjoy teaching your peers, learning new things, and being a part of the decision-making process, then this program is for you!

Bulldog Connect 1st Annual Conference

The Howe ISD IT Department is excited to announce Bulldog Connect 1st Annual Conference on August 3, 2021. We invite each of you to join us for a one-day, highly interactive conference featuring exciting new tools and ideas for your classroom! Check out the attached flyer for more details.

Who should attend?
All Howe ISD instructional staff (including support staff) should attend to satisfy their required technology training.

How Do I Register?
Click here to register using Eduphoria. After you are logged in using your Howe ISD network credentials, select the green Register button in the top right of the screen. Next, you will browse the various course offerings and select the Enroll button to enroll in the class.

We are excited to include "Escape the Conference!" an interactive STEM based escape room as one of our featured sessions. Each attendee is required to attend with their campus at the designated times outlined below and shown in the Eduphoria conference schedule. After you have registered for your Escape the Conference class you must select 3 other classes to complete your schedule.

Session 1 (8:30 AM - 10:05 AM) Summit Hill Elementary School - Escape the Conference!
Session 2 (10:10 AM - 11:40 AM) Howe Intermediate School - Escape the Conference!
Session 3 (12:35 PM - 2:05 PM) Howe Middle School - Escape the Conference!
Session 4 (2:10 PM- 3:45 PM) Howe High School - Escape the Conference!  

Each attendee's schedule should include an Escape the Conference class, the opening and closing keynote, and 3 other classes of your choice. Registration must be completed no later than May 28th!
