Hello Everyone,

I hope you are having a fantastic Tuesday!

Here are your tech tips for the week 🙂

Google Training #1:  Google Drive

Google Drive is the hub of everything you will create, keep, and share with others.  You can access your Google Drive on the web, on your phone or on a tablet.

Here are some key features of Google Drive:
  • Right click on any file in Google Drive to get a list of options
  • 3 different ways of sharing documents (view only, copy or edit)
    • View Only:  This is the setting you want to share with students.  They cannot edit anything or share to anyone else.  It is view only!
    • Copy:  This will force a copy for anyone that clicks on the link.  This is perfect to share with a teammate who wants a template of your activity.  It will protect your original.
    • Edit:  This will allow anyone you share it with have full editing rights.  Be cautious when sharing documents with this setting!
    • Special Tip:  If you want to share a document with editing rights, but still protect your original, you can make a copy of your original document first (right click and then click "copy").  You can then "share" the copied document with your team with editing rights!
  • The search feature in Google Drive pulls up files that instantly match with search query
  • Create documents directly in Google Drive with a click of a button
  • Your Howe ISD Google Account offers unlimited storage!
  • Create a "Shared Folder" to plan with your team at the same time
To access your Google Drive account, just type in drive.google.com ; Then login with your Howe ISD email address and current password.

From there you can create folders (right click on the screen and click "New Folder"), create new documents (Click +New in the top left corner and choose your program), and share anything to your team or with your students (right click on the file or activity you want to share, click "share", and then adjust your sharing settings).

One Last Thing:   There is a Chrome Extension you can download that will save any website you are looking at directly into your Google Drive account.  Go to the chrome web store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions) and search for Google Drive.

Apple iPad Organization Tip 🍎📱

A great way to organize your apps on your iPad is by creating folders.  You can do this easily by following the directions below!  This has been a lifesaving way for me to organize myself and get to the things I need quickly.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Thanks,
